London and Farnborough, Hampshire – 11 December 2014 – Ark Data Centres (“Ark”), dedicated to the design, construction and operation of UK data centres, has announced an agreement with Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ZAYO), an international provider of fibre-based Bandwidth Infrastructure services, to expand its data centre connectivity. Extending an agreement previously held with Geo Networks Ltd (“Geo”), acquired by Zayo in May 2014, Zayo will connect Ark’s Cody Park data centre, based in the south of England, to Zayo’s extensive network. Zayo’s network will provide the location with high bandwidth connectivity, driving access to its extensive network and enabling Cody Park to deliver highly scalable, high capacity dark fibre services to London and the UK.
In 2011, Geo provided Ark’s Spring Park facility in Corsham, Wiltshire, with a dark fibre connection, enabling Ark customers to scale to increasing data volumes. The additional connection of Cody Park further enhances Ark’s connectivity partner network into the site, providing customers with the dedicated fibre provision required to support the application of critical data.
Zayo’s UK fibre-optic network spans more than 450,000km and connects over 130 data centres via unique routes, with network reach into communications hubs such as Docklands, Slough, Manchester and Dublin. Following its acquisition of Geo, Zayo added over 2,100 route miles to its European network, and connectivity to 587 on-net buildings. Zayo’s connectivity for Ark will span a 21km distance.
“At Ark, we strive to provide a quality customer experience at every opportunity,” explained Huw Owen, CEO of Ark Data Centres. “Zayo’s services are widely used by the financial sector and this extension of the existing Geo relationship is highly strategic for us. The investment will ultimately allow us to address the needs of those financial companies and others looking to host out of London.”
“Zayo’s London dark fibre network offers flexibility and control, providing Ark customers with the resilient, secure network connections they need to support existing and future business needs,” commented Alastair Kane, European Vice President at Zayo. “Expanding our relationship with Ark not only provides Ark customers with access to Zayo’s service offerings, but further enhances the connectivity options we’re able to offer Zayo customers.”
