LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Windstream Hosted Solutions, one of the nation’s premier providers of enterprise-class managed hosting solutions, today announced plans to expand its nationwide network of data centers with the construction of a new data center in Nashville, Tenn.
The new enterprise-class data center, which is scheduled to open in 2013, is being built to handle the increased demand for data center and managed services from Windstream’s customers across the U.S. The new facility will be 21,000 square feet with 10,000 square feet of raised floor data center space.
The data center will also support Windstream Hosted Solutions’ robust cloud computing solution, which dramatically improves the efficiency and availability of IT resources and applications in organizations, allowing companies to rapidly deploy capacity without capital investments so they can reshape their environment on demand. Windstream Hosted Solutions offers public, private and hybrid cloud solutions to businesses nationwide.
The new Windstream Hosted Solutions data center will feature a full array of benefits, including:
- Tier III modular design for easy capacity expansion as needed;
- 2500kVa of utility capacity, expandable to five times that amount;
- 360 tons of cooling capacity to keep inside temperatures constant at an average of 74 degrees Fahrenheit;
- Redundant OC-192 10Gbps circuits, connecting each center to multiple Windstream core POP sites with fully redundant peering;
- Onsite Network Operations Centers (NOCs), fully staffed 24 x 7 x 365, providing facilities and network monitoring, security, technical and remote-hands support.
Windstream is making strategic investments in its data center business and recently announced completion of an enterprise-class data center in McLean, Va. The company opened a state of the art data center in Little Rock, Ark., earlier this year, and has SSAE 16 compliant enterprise data centers across the U.S. to serve the growing demand for cloud computing and managed services. Windstream will continue to expand its data center footprint and managed services offerings in 2013.
“Our customers demand a superior level of services and reliability, and these new centers, like all of Windstream’s facilities, are designed to exceed their expectations,” said Kip Turco, Windstream senior vice president of data center operations. “They are being built to the highest specifications, and will enable Windstream to provide the level of service businesses demand, ranging from point managed solutions such as managed security or storage to the complete delivery of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).”
Turco also noted that the centers are “green;” they are being built to LEED Gold standards, thus meeting an internationally recognized framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
Windstream offers a full suite of managed and dedicated hosting options, including colocation, cloud computing, and disaster recovery. For more information about Windstream Hosted Solutions, visit www.windstreambusiness.com.
