Since its inception, the promise of cloud computing has been to fundamentally transform the way businesses operate. Before today, the cloud had not lived up to that promise. Verizon decided to change that. We listened to our customers, and over the course of two years reimagined and redesigned the cloud.
We’re proud to announce the launch of Verizon Cloud – a new cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform and cloud-based object storage service. This is a fundamentally different cloud. It was built to provide the agility and economic benefit of a generic public cloud, while maintaining the reliability, scale and performance enterprises have come to expect from Verizon.
Our team questioned everything that had been done in the past and challenged all assumptions about the cloud. As a result, the service we unveiled today represents the true next generation in cloud computing. This is the best of both worlds – the speed and flexibility of a public cloud, equipped with the proven performance and control of an enterprise-class service. We believe this will allow our clients to use the cloud in ways not possible before, empowering them to grow and lead their own revolutions in their respective industries.
This is just the first step in the evolution of the cloud. Over the next year, Verizon will add new features and expand our market and geographic reach. In doing so, our aim is to ignite industry changes that finally give customers the cloud they have expected and deserved.
Verizon is part of the cloud revolution and I’m excited for what we have in store for the future.
