An App for Every Business – Demand for AT&T Mobile Enterprise Application Platform Accelerates

Organizations Look to AT&T for Customized Mobile Applications

Dallas, Texas, June 13, 2012

Transform a time-consuming business process. Engage customers on their mobile devices. Whatever the industry, whatever the scenario, AT&T* can help organizations create customized mobile applications through the AT&T Mobile Enterprise Applications Platform (MEAP).

More than ever before, demand for business-focused mobile applications is on the rise:

  • ABI Research estimates that the number of worldwide enterprise mobile application and service users will exceed 600 million this year.1
  • More than 27,000 AT&T business customers have adopted mobile applications.
  • Revenue for AT&T MEAP more than tripled during 2011.
  • 50 percent of AT&T MEAP customers purchase additional software or professional services from AT&T to build more mobile solutions.

In the last year, many businesses and organizations – including Eaton and the State of Michigan’s Department of National Resources – have deployed applications through AT&T MEAP.

Searching and Selling Made Easier

For the sales team at Eaton, a power management company based in Cleveland, Ohio, AT&T MEAP has made it easier to search for and sell products from Eaton’s catalog to customers in more than 150 countries. With their mobile app, Eaton Powersource, the company’s sales force has information about Eaton’s 200,000 hydraulic products right at their fingertips.

“Eaton is committed to creating and maintaining powerful customer relationships,” said Justin A. Kershaw, senior vice president and chief information officer – Industrial Sector, Eaton Corporation. “With the Eaton Powersource app, we can share technical specifications, competitor cross references, pricing information and more in a way that is easy and convenient, not only for our sales teams but also for our customers.

Packing More Fun into Camping Trips

Technology meets the great outdoors in an AT&T MEAP mobile app designed for the State of Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources. To encourage more people to explore the area’s expansive and beautiful park system, the state introduced the “MI Camping and Recreation Locator” application in July 2011. Since then, more than 29,000 outdoor enthusiasts have downloaded the mobile app to find information on campgrounds, hiking trails, visitor centers and events.

“Even during the camping off-season – any time after Labor Day – thousands of people have downloaded our mobile app. It’s an easy way for anyone to find the nearest park or recreation area, whether they’re Michigan residents looking to escape their daily routines or tourists searching for adventure,” said Ron Olson, Chief of the Department of Natural Resources Parks and Recreation Division, State of Michigan.

“Time and time again, our AT&T MEAP customers show us that their creativity combined with our powerful platform can transform almost any idea into a mobile application,” said Chris Hill, Vice President, Advanced Mobility Solutions, AT&T Business and Home Solutions.

An IDC survey2 of enterprise users revealed AT&T as the top choice for mobile application development, “with an outstanding 51 percent of the overall sample selecting AT&T.” According to the report, “Companies recognized AT&T as a leader that they believe can most effectively deliver mobile application development services across multiple industry categories.”

Businesses and organizations of all sizes can benefit from the deep industry experience of the AT&T Mobility Solutions Services (AT&T MSS) team, which provides solution architecture, application development and lifecycle management for AT&T MEAP and the entire AT&T portfolio of mobile solutions.
