OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), November 23, 2011 – Now there are even more reasons to consider Sprint for your gift-giving season… Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s annual 2011 Best of Everything list awarded Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) top honors in three areas: Sprint’s unlimited data plan, no-contract offerings from Boost Mobile and payLo by Virgin Mobile and Sprint’s exclusive Samsung Galaxy S™ II Epic™ Touch 4G smartphone.
“We’re committed to offering what our customers value most and that includes unlimited data plans, no-contract options and a cutting-edge selection of devices,” said Bob H. Johnson, president of Sprint’s, Consumer business unit. “We’re extremely proud to have these offerings recognized by Kiplinger’s with multiple entries on this year’s Best of Everything list.”
In the “Cell-phone plans” category:
- Sprint’s Simply Everything Plan was named best unlimited plan. That’s no surprise given Sprint is the only national carrier offering truly unlimited data for all smartphones with no throttling or metering. For $99.99 per month,1 the plan includes unlimited talk, text and data while on the Sprint Network. Kiplinger’s calls this the plan for a “data-hungry smartphone user” and points out that “Sprint won’t slow your connection or impose usage caps.”
- Boost Mobile’s Monthly Unlimited Plan was named best prepaid option. This no-contract plan delivers unlimited voice, text messaging, Web, email and calls to 411 for $50 to $60 per month, depending on the phone. Kiplinger’s also notes that “Boost’s ‘Shrinkage’ perk lowers your monthly bill by $5 for every six on-time payments.”
- payLo by Virgin Mobile’s Talk & Text Plan made the list as the best “cheap talk-text-surf” plan. Kiplinger’s asks, “Unlimited plans are nice, but what if you use your cell phone sparingly and mostly for talking?” Their answer? Select this no-contract plan to get 1,500 minutes, 1,500 messages, and 30MB of data for just $30 a month.
In the “Top tech” category, Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G, exclusively from Sprint, was named best Android phone. Kiplinger’s praises the “speedy” dual-core processor, “brilliant” screen and two cameras.
Samsung Epic Touch 4G is currently available exclusively for $199.99 (excluding taxes) with an Everything Data Plan, $10 per month Premium Data add-on and a new line of service with a two-year agreement or eligible upgrade. It can be purchased at any Sprint retail store, 1-800-Sprint1 or www.sprint.com.
Kiplinger’s annual Best of Everything list picks the standouts in stocks, funds, credit cards, travel, tech, apps and cars. See the full list here: http://www.kiplinger.com/magazine/archives/the-best-of-everything-2011.html?topic_id=41#ixzz1dtryh3hm
