America’s New Blue-Collar Job Boom Is One Nobody Saw Coming — and It’s Just Getting Started

Fox News recently joined Compass Datacenters CEO Chris Crosby at the company’s Red Oak, Texas campus for a closer look at the workforce behind America’s growing digital infrastructure.

The story highlights the breadth of skilled careers supported by data center development, from electricians, mechanics and technicians to welders, carpenters, concrete workers and other construction trades.

At Red Oak, approximately 900 people work across the Compass campus and Schneider Electric manufacturing facility. The broader impact extends well beyond the campus, with Compass and its partners helping support more than 7,000 permanent factory jobs nationwide.

The story also highlights Compass’ investment in developing the next generation of skilled workers through MEI Pathways. In partnership with Texas State Technical College, Compass developed a $12.6 million training facility at Red Oak designed to introduce people to careers across mechanical, electrical and IT disciplines.

For Crosby, these opportunities demonstrate that the infrastructure supporting AI and the digital economy has an impact far beyond technology.

“Data centers are where the economic engine is going to be going forward,” Crosby told Fox News. “You’re talking about massive amounts of jobs, economic activity and tax revenue growth.”
