Arlington, VA (April 26, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association—the trusted industry association for the connected world—released a statement in support of the White House, CISA, NTIA and other Federal agencies’ observance of April as National Supply Chain Integrity Month and their call to action to apply a comprehensive Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) approach to securing the nation’s most critical supply chains.
Recognizing that cyber and supply chain risk management needed to be built into networking product designs, TIA’s QuEST Forum members developed the SCS 9001 Cyber and Supply Chain Security Standard and released it in early 2022 to significantly improve the processes used in developing ICT products, solutions, and services. This measurable standard has become a useful tool for organizations looking to advance their product security and align with emerging government guidelines and policies, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and U.S. Executive Order (EO) 14028.
TIA issued the following statement from CEO David Stehlin:
“TIA supports the goals set forth in the Administration’s recent blog on National Supply Chain Integrity Month. The integrity of the information and communications technology supply chain is of critical importance. We can only build secure, resilient, and trustworthy networks if we have trusted suppliers, products, and solutions.
Improving supply chain integrity starts with a more secure supply chain and we believe security must be built in our connected technologies and not bolted on at the end of development. Without a secure supply chain, every element from the IOT devices in your home to the routers, switches, and radios in a network, to the chips and software in your cars are vulnerable to attack.
That is why the members of our SCS 9001 Industry Working Group developed this cyber and supply chain security standard and continue to update and expand its reach. SCS 9001 meets all the goals and objectives set forth by the White House.”
