ME7834NR Passes Basic Function Tests for NTT Docomo Acceptance Inspections

Allen, TX – March 12, 2020 – Anritsu Corporation President Hirokazu Hamada is pleased to announce that its 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR has passed NTT Docomo’s basic function tests for 5G mobile protocol acceptance inspections.

Anritsu and NTT Docomo have been solutions partners since the 2G/3G era and Anritsu supports 4G device protocol acceptance inspection tests as a provider of Docomo-approved test equipment (D-ATE). This new function completes extension of the ME7834NR basic functions from 4G to 5G NR device protocol acceptance inspections, making the ME7834NR available for acceptance inspections of NTT Docomo equipment, including new 5G NR technology.

With respect to this extended testing, Mr. Ken Higuchi, Director of Communication Device Development Department, NTT Docomo said, “We are very happy that Anritsu provides us with excellent test solutions for evaluating our 5G terminals soon to be released publicly. For the future -as with the earlier LTE-Advanced release – we are pleased that the ME7834NR will have all the test functions required for 5G rollout and aims to obtain D-ATE certification.”

Anritsu is continuing to extend the ME7834NR functions in partnership with NTT Docomo to receive 5G NR D-ATE certification for acceptance inspections covering a wide application range, including NTT Docomo 5G smartphones, communications modules, and chipsets.

In the future, Anritsu is focusing on further ME7834NR developments supporting new commercial 5G NR communications services. It will help lower 5G NR development costs and improve service quality.

5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR

The ME7834NR test platform meets the requirements of the 3GPP TS 38.523 Protocol Conformance Test (PCT) and Carrier Acceptance Testing (CAT) for both the 5G NR Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) modes.

When combined with Anritsu’s new OTA RF Chamber MA8171A and RF converters, the ME7834NR covers the sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G frequency bands. The ME7834NR has been designed based on the ME7834LA, supporting existing LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and W-CDMA standards. Current ME7834LA users can upgrade smoothly to the ME7834NR 5G-compliant system, while still taking advantage of their proven LTE-A test environment
