CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CK Hutchison), a multinational conglomerate, announces an investment in NURON LIMITED (nuron), an innovative company on the forefront of monitoring technology for the water industry.
nuron, founded in 2014, has pioneered the world’s first continuous in-pipe wastewater monitoring system, which enables water companies to move from a costly and reactive mode of operation to an efficient and proactive one, improving customer satisfaction, environmental performance and total expenditure. Deployed using advanced robotics, it also enables communications networks to be deployed faster and more cost-effectively than by using traditional civil engineering methods.
A first live system is currently being deployed in partnership with Northumbrian Water, a CK Hutchisoncompany. The CK Hutchison investment will support nuron as it deploys systems at scale across the UK and beyond. nuron is also exploring how its robots and fiber laying technologies can augment CK Hutchison’s telecommunications infrastructure.
Says Mike Ainger, nuron’s Founding Director:
“CK Hutchison’s vision and expertise in both water and communications sectors make them a fantastic partner. We have an ambitious plan which I’m delighted that CK Hutchison is supporting.”
Says Peter Bourke, Head of Group Information Systems at CK Hutchison:
“I am very excited about the potential nuron has to transform the operations of both water systems and telecommunications networks. The technology complements our telecommunications and water company strategies and the timing couldn’t be better.”
Says Claire Fenwick, nuron’s Managing Director:
“Our technology helps water companies optimise the management of their assets and support our digital economy. CK Hutchison shares our vision and appetite and their investment will enable our growth to deliver our capability to customers at scale.”
