Point of presence in an Interxion data centre is the first step for the US premium bare metal server start-up in entering the European market
Schiphol-Rijk, April 4 2016 – Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral colocation data centre services, announces thatPacket, a NYC-based, infrastructure start-up in bare metal cloud, will install a Point of Presence (PoP) in Interxion’s data centre at its campus in Schiphol, as part of the start-up’s plan to enter the European market.
With the agreement, Interxion adds another fast growing cloud company to the long list of tech companies that leverage the Schiphol datacentre campus near Amsterdam. Packet provides a bare metal cloud built for developers, giving the availability and consistency of a virtual public cloud but without the multi-tenancy drawbacks. This makes Packet perfect for high performance production workloads, next-generation Docker and container workloads and demanding networking applications. Packet bare metal customers can access on-demand dedicated servers paid by the hour or commit to longer term contracts for pricing convenience.
Packet has chosen Interxion as its European datacentre partner to meet the demand for its services in Europe.
”Our choice to colocate within Interxion’s data centre is very strategic, motivated by the business opportunities we see in Europe and need for a flexible partner that spans the European market”, Said Zachary Smith, CEO and co-founder of Packet. “With 41 data centres in 11 European countries, Interxion is supremely positioned to support our expansion plans into Europe while giving our small start-up the flexibility and single-point-of-contact experience we need.”
Michael van den Assem, Managing Director, Interxion Netherlands says: ‘We are delighted that Packet has chosen our data centre in order to expand its business. We will readily share our local expertise and technical knowledge to help them establish a presence in the European market. I am convinced that they can benefit from our robust and flexible data centre services.’
