Two Houston-based companies celebrate 10-year partnership focused on Goodwill Houston’s mission of providing job opportunities to people with disabilities and other employment barriers

HOUSTON – Nov. 10, 2015 – Alpheus Communications, a leading provider of Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions, is proud to announce the 10-year anniversary of its unique partnership with Goodwill Industries of Houston. The non-profit social enterprise relies on Alpheus’ fiber-optic network to support its mission of creating jobs and equipping those who would otherwise struggle to find employment with invaluable tools.

Goodwill Houston’s 58 retail locations, 51 stand-alone donation centers, nine job connection centers and its corporate headquarters all rely on Alpheus network and broadband services for data, voice and video traffic. By connecting its various locations, the Alpheus network powers Goodwill Houston’s point-of-sale system and other mission-critical business processes.

“Alpheus has partnered with us over the years, reinventing the network to support our rapidly growing organization,” said Charles C. Canton, Vice President of Operations for Goodwill Houston. “Alpheus also provides data-center services, ensuring we can continue critical operations even in the event of a natural disaster.”

Beyond delivering high-bandwidth solutions and networking services to support Goodwill Houston’s operations, Alpheus also supports Goodwill Houston’s mission with sponsorship of The Moreton Achievement Awards Luncheon.

“Partnerships with Houston-based companies, like Alpheus Communications, play a significant role in Goodwill Houston remaining a premier workforce development resource in the greater Houston area,” said Goodwill Houston President and CEO Steve Lufburrow. “Their support of our Moreton Luncheon helps us share success stories and educate the public about how their donations help us create local jobs.”

“We’re proud of our relationship with Goodwill Houston, whose mission is as challenging as it is noble. Being involved in their success is rewarding, especially because the biggest beneficiaries are residents of our shared hometown,” said Alpheus CEO Scott Widham. “While their business model is unique, the technology challenges Goodwill Houston faces are common for businesses today.”

When people donate to and shop with Goodwill Houston, they help the organization create local jobs and change lives through the power of work. A list of donation centers is available at Where to Donate and a listing of stores is available at Where to Shop. To learn more about Goodwill Houston’s mission, connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.

“Technology is important to everyone, but what’s most important is that we deliver technology that is affordable, flexible and scalable, supported by personalized care,” said John Agathon, Alpheus Account Director for Goodwill Houston. “That’s what we have provided to Goodwill Houston for the past decade, and we look forward to more mutual success for many years to come.”
