BOULDER, Colo. – July 17, 2015 – Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ZAYO), a global provider of bandwidth infrastructure, today announced that it has assumed network oversight and support responsibility for EAGLE-Net Alliance (“EAGLE-Net”), an intergovernmental entity that provides broadband connectivity to schools, libraries and community anchor institutions across the state of Colorado. Zayo and EAGLE-Net have entered into this interim agreement as they work to establish an expanded, long-term partnership.
“A big thank you to Zayo and their partnership with EAGLE-Net to ensure continuity of services to customers, particularly Colorado’s schools and community institutions,” said Gov. John Hickenlooper. “As vested members of the Colorado community and leaders within broadband, we believe that they can be the bridge that connects the potential to the sustainable reality.”
“Zayo’s core competency is the design, implementation and successful management of broadband networks to ensure speed and reliability,” said Brent Fontana, director of Zayo Strategic Alliances. “Our first priority is a seamless transition and continuity of service because we understand the importance of reliable, high-speed connectivity to Colorado schools and community institutions.”
Colorado-based Zayo owns and operates an 84,000-mile fiber network in the U.S. and Europe, currently serving large enterprises and organizations in a variety of sectors, including education, advanced research and healthcare. Over the past two years, Zayo has provided fiber connectivity for the Weld County School District 6 and the Boulder Valley School District, investing in significant network expansion in Greeley and Boulder, Colorado.
“Zayo is an excellent choice for this role – they are Colorado-based, have a history of successful public-private partnerships and have a track record of operating fiber networks successfully and efficiently,” said Mike Ryan, president of EAGLE-Net. “Together, we will provide the highest level of service to our Colorado partner organizations as we evaluate opportunities to better serve our schools and communities.”
