[Shenzhen, China, April 22, 2015] Huawei today unveiled its NetEngine 9000 (NE9000) core router platform at its 2015 Global Analyst Summit held at the headquarters in Shenzhen. The petabit core router has the largest capacity in the industry, meeting operators’ demands of delivering next-generation data center (DC) -centric networks.
Due to the rapid growth of Ultra High Definition (UHD) videos and migration to cloud services, operators will face new challenges to backbone networks. New services such as FBB 4K/8K and MBB 2K video require large backbone bandwidth and a reduction of network delays. It is predicted that 70 percent of services will be deployed onto the cloud by 2020, resulting in DCs gradually becoming the core of networks. DC-centric interconnection will be the trend of the next-generation backbone networks.
To meet the evolution mentioned above, Huawei releases the industry’s largest petabit core router NE9000. The new product supports the industry’s first 2T router line card and leading SDN/NFV technology meets the requirement of the next generation DC-centric network. NE9000 supports the maximum capacity of 8 Tbit/s per slot. The cluster system capacity scales to 8 Pbit/s, resulting in a download speed of 12,000 4K videos per second. The industry’s 2T line card can provide high port density of 100GE with wire speed. It can help operators to simplify the network, reduce the network delay, and bring an inspiring experience to users.
Based on a programmable chipset and elastic distributed operation system, the NE9000 can fully support SDN/NFV and enable network capability. Opening network capability, through virtualized, automated, and intellectualized technologies, it can flexibly adjust the network routing, quickly adapt to the dynamic variation of DC backbone traffic and effectively improve network resources utilization. It will optimize OAM efficiency and build an open, smart, and efficient next generation DC-centric backbone network.
“The Huawei NE9000, the industry’s largest petabit core router platform can accelerate the innovation for high-end router technologies and network architecture, meeting operator demands for next generation DC-centric networks. Delivering cloud and video services, Huawei hopes to help operators to provide an intelligent and efficient network, which bring subscribers an inspiring experience.” said Gai Gang, President, Router and Carrier Ethernet Product Line, Huawei.
The Huawei IP products and solutions ranked the second place in the global market as of Q4, 2014 according to a study by Infonetics. Huawei supplies its IP products and solutions to 45 of the top 50 global operators.
