Huawei CloudEdge Won Total Telecom 2014 “Best Infrastructure Initiative” Award

[London, England, December 3, 2014]: Huawei announced that their CloudEdge solution was awarded the “Best Infrastructure Initiative” at the 2014 World Communications Award held in London by world-renowned telecom industry media Total Telecom.

Huawei CloudEdge is a new generation mobile broadband (MBB) core network solution based on network function virtualization (NFV) and cloud architecture design. Through NFV technology, CloudEdge shares unified hardware derived from legacy telecom services, vertical market telecom service and 3rd party applications, whereby significantly improving the entire system’s efficiency. CloudEdge can provide agile deployment allowing for convenient configuration and deployment of new online businesses enabling shortened time to market. At the same time, with a network capability openness platform, CloudEdge brings an innovative new business model to operators provided through cooperation with third party OTT service providers.

Huawei CloudEdge solution has over 20 Proof of Concept and test projects worldwide and has begun gradually deploying this solution in certain commercial trials such as commercialized service chaining and network openness service. For the past few years, Huawei has been actively involved in researching the next generation mobile core network and contributed to NFV standards organizations with more than 230 accepted standard proposals.
