Shoppers on Your Mark – Get Set – Click!

Making holiday purchases from your mobile device? You’re trending!

If you’re sick of getting up early to wait in line on Black Friday – you’re not alone.  According to a recent article on Digiday, more people are using tablets and smartphones to buy gifts this season. Mobile devices can help with avoiding overcrowded malls and scoring some of the best deals. Best part is that you can get all of your holiday shopping checked off while curled up on the couch!

To help you prepare for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and shopping throughout the holiday season, here are some tips to help save money while keeping your information safe:

Tip #1: Find the best bargain

Especially with Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up, the number of deals are endless. Try using price comparison websites like NexTag.com or even Google Shopping to find the best buys.

Tip #2: Search for coupons and promos

Look for coupons and promo codes before purchasing an item using websites like RetailMeNot. Saving a few dollars here and there can really add up to save you much more. Also try to keep an eye out for free shipping deals from online retailers as a way to save an extra few dollars.

Tip #3:  Use social media

Follow your favorite stores to stay up to date on coupons and sales. These kinds of announcements usually happen first on social media. Watch for hashtags like #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday for special deals from your favorite brands.

Tip #4: Read product reviews

One downside to online shopping is not seeing the product in person. Do these shoes run big or small? Does this camera really take high-quality pictures? Make sure to read product reviews because they will often answer all your questions and give the pros and cons to buying it.

Tip #5: Be patient

Good deals can come to those who wait. If you keep clam and browse online, it gives you more time to bookmark your gift ideas while keeping an eye out for any promotions or coupons. Save your gift bookmarks in a convenient place so you can keep checking back on the latest deals!

Tip #6: Buyers beware, use your intuition

If you found a 60” TV for $100, you might feel wary because that deal sounds too good to be true (even if it is Black Friday). Cover your bases by doing research on the company before buying online. Read reviews or check for contact information in case you run into problems with your purchase.

Tip #7: Remember return/cancellation policies

Whether you suffer from buyer’s remorse or receive a broken product, always read the vendor’s return and cancellation policies before checkout. You don’t want to be stuck with a final sale, non-returnable item.

Tip #8: Print or save copies of your order

Start a virtual or hard copy file that will include all of your holiday receipts. After placing an order online, save the confirmation email. This will include the item’s cost, your billing information and an order confirmation number. Keeping your files up to date will help you to stay organized, track how much you’re spending and help to identify receipts if you need to make a return.
