I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. I’ve done this several times in the past but rather than turn to my trusty cookbook, I decided to try out a brand new app:
Butterball Cookbook Plus – Turkey Recipes, Plus Cooking Tools for Every Day Dinners:
I usually buy a Butterball turkey so I thought, “why not go to the experts for some cooking advice?” Just reading the names of the recipes makes my mouth water: Apple Pecan Stuffing, BBQ Turkey Mini burgers, Baked Turkey Meatballs and Butternut Squash Puree with Maple-Glazed Pecans, just to name a few. Click on the recipe to find a list of ingredients, directions and nutritional information. I’ll be using this app not only for Thanksgiving dinner but also for leftovers and family dinners throughout the year.
I found the app’s How-To videos very helpful: How to choose your turkey, How to thaw your turkey, How to roast your turkey and How to carve your turkey. The app also features conversion and substitution charts, plus Butterball’s handy cooking calculator to plan perfect portions, guarantee proper defrost, and cook times needed for your Thanksgiving Day turkey. You can easily share recipes with friends and family through the app and save money while shopping with coupons included in the app.
Keep Kids Distraction-Free During Holiday Meals
My kids are only two and five years old, but if you’re worried about your teen or tween texting at the Thanksgiving dinner table, don’t fear. Virgin Mobile Custom provides peace of mind with robust parental controls.
Most teens and tweens love to stay in touch with her friends using Facebook and Instagram, but some may also have trouble with self-control. With a few clicks on their device, parents can turn off access to texting or certain apps, at the dinner table. Trust me, your kids will look back and thank you one day!
Virgin Mobile Custom’s parental controls can be enforced over network connections as well as Wi-Fi connections. Virgin Mobile Custom is available exclusively at Walmart on three devices: LG Unify, LG Pulse and ZTE Emblem.
