Frontier Communications Reaffirms Commitment to Military Veterans

Veterans Day is marked by appreciation for service

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– In many communities served by Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) in 28 states, Veterans Day culminates a series of activities in appreciation of those who sacrifice for our country.

Thirteen percent of Frontier employees are military veterans and reservists. Today, each is receiving a Frontier “Challenge Coin” in recognition of their service to the nation. Challenge coins date to Roman times and became a tradition that builds camaraderie in the military. Frontier created a special challenge coin to honor the dedication of its military employees. Each coin is accompanied by a letter from Frontier’s President and COO, Dan McCarthy, himself a veteran, and is being presented during ceremonies led by Frontier’s senior leaders.

All Frontier employees saw a video produced by Frontier’s Veterans Affairs team, led by the company’s Assistant Vice President for Veterans Affairs,Gregg Barratt, an active member of Honor and Remember and President of the Connecticut Chapter of the Patriot Guard Riders. The video features Frontier’s Mike Flynn, President of the Mid-Atlantic Region and Scott Yates, a Technical Supervisor based in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

Employees are also asking support for the company’s campaign to raise funds for The Armed Forces Foundation (AFF), a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for active-duty military personnel, National Guardsmen, Reservists, military families and veterans. For every story posted to Frontier’s Stories of Service tab on Facebook the company is donating $5, up to $5,000, to the AFF. The AFF educates Americans about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury and advocates for troops and veterans suffering from these and other hidden wounds. Stories from or about a veteran, active duty military, or anyone with a veteran or active duty loved one are welcomed.

Frontier continues to support Honor and Remember, an organization dedicated to the creation of a flag as a national emblem of lives lost in service to our country. Today in Meriden, Connecticut, company representatives presented a personalized “Honor and Remember” flag to the family of Specialist Fourth Class Michael J.
