TELEHOUSE’s NYIIX Launches Thunderbird Route Servers, Facilitating Peering Operations and Overall Value

New York, NY, USA – October 6, 2014 TELEHOUSE, the global leader for data centers, international Internet exchanges, and managed IT services, announces today its recent launch of Thunderbird Router Servers in order to enhance the overall value of New York International Internet Exchange (NYIIX) , the company’s extended New York peering network. By introducing Thunderbird  to NYIIX, members are now able to instantly connect and exchange traffic. Additionally, Thunderbird allows members a reduced ramp up time when setting up peering connections.

Since its inception in 1996, the NYIIX Peering Exchange is New York’s largest and most active peering exchange. Data center- and carrier-neutral with over 130 members, NYIIX offers the most comprehensive membership list in New York peering market.

“Adding Thunderbird to our NYIIX serves as another prime example of ways Telehouse is constantly looking to improve,” states Akio Sugeno, Vice President of Internet Engineering, Operations and Business Development at TELEHOUSE America.  “We are confident that our current and future members will find this upgrade beneficial to their overall NYIIX peering experience.”
