Enhances course offerings through partnership with Mitel and Frontier with MiVoice Voice Platform
ROBINSON, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Lincoln Trail College (LTC), an Illinois Eastern Community College, has implemented the latest business communications solutions from Mitel® (NASDAQ: MITL) (TSX: MNW) and Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR) to improve its course offerings. The curriculum is built around Mitel’s MiVoice IP phone platform and provides students with core skills based on the most current business communications technology.
“At Lincoln Trail College, we feel it is important to give students a hands-on experience. The addition of this equipment from Mitel and Frontier allows us to do just that. Not only does this donation enable us to train on actual equipment, but it also gives the students a view of what is being now used in the field. All of this helps our graduates obtain good paying jobs in our community and around the country. We enjoy a great deal of success in the telecommunications programs at LTC thanks to partners such as Frontier and Mitel that make it possible,” said Chris Teague, LTC telecommunications instructor.
Last year, Frontier and Mitel deployed a business communications system built on MiVoice and MiCollab conferencing and collaboration solutions for LTC to support operations. The success of that program led LTC to explore ways to better prepare students for careers in business communications. As a result, the college expanded its Information Technology education program to include business communications courses based on the Mitel solutions implemented by Frontier.
“Frontier Communications and Mitel together are strong supporters of education, helping universities, colleges and schools to enhance communications among students, faculty and administrations. We saw an opportunity with Lincoln Trail College to take our solution to the next level, providing the foundation for students to learn and gain valuable business communications skills for their careers ahead,” said Chris Kaler, general manager for Frontier Communications.
Frontier serves commercial customers by leveraging existing local exchange carrier capabilities with state-of-the-art technology from Mitel. The joint solution enables LTC to provide business communications courses, preparing students for work situations that range from small to medium size businesses up to enterprise corporations. Frontier works with Mitel and LTC to maintain the most current solutions for students.
