Sprint CEO Dan Hesse Named 2013 Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award Winner

Chief executive tops CR Magazine’s list of responsible corporate leaders

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), October 09, 2013 – Corporate Responsibility Magazine and the COMMIT!Forum today announced that Dan Hesse, the Chief Executive Officer of Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) will receive the 2013 Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hesse will accept the award tonight at the 2013 COMMIT!Forum in New York City. CR Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual whose risk-taking, vision and pioneering spirit have led to significant achievement in the field over the course of their career.

Today, Sprint provides relay services in 33 states, exclusively for the federal government, as well as in New Zealand. Last month, Sprint launched the Kyocera Kona, the first feature phone in the industry to offer verbal translation enabling Internet browsing for customers with low vision. Driving the company’s focus around accessibility has been a personal passion for Hesse. His maternal grandmother, who lived with him while he was growing up, was blind. To combat distracted driving, Sprint developed Sprint Drive First, a smartphone application that locks the device when a car is travelling more than 10 mph, directs incoming calls to voicemail and silences alerts for emails and text messages. Sprint Drive First is free to Sprint customers.
