Scottish Provider Fluency Enhances Ethernet Services with Overture Solutions

Edinburgh-based Ethernet provider’s greenfield network deployment utilizes today’s most advanced EoC Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation platforms

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 2, 2013 Overture, innovating at the metro edge for service providers and network operators worldwide, today announced Fluency Communications Ltd., a growing Scottish wholesale network operator, is deploying its Ethernet over Copper (EoC) platforms as part of a network expansion and strategic initiative to offer improved, highly scalable Carrier Ethernet services with much lower latency and greater resiliency than currently available. Overture EoC platforms support Fluency’s full suite of standards-based Ethernet services to reach businesses in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, with expansion planned throughout Scotland.

“Overture’s EoC platforms are a great fit with our business model. The Overture solution really stands out with a number of built-in features that make it easier to activate services and assure performance to ultimately deliver the time-to-service, low latency, quality of service, and reliability that our customers need,” said Charlie Boisseau, director of Fluency Communications. “Because we’ve built our fiber facilities out to the last mile, our Ethernet over Copper customers are able to receive remarkably high performance in terms of throughput and latency. This has led to a growth trajectory that has us on track to double our network over the next few years.”

Overture’s Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certified solutions include edge and aggregation elements and help speed deployment and simplify operations through features such as integrated service activation testing, built-in copper test head, packet capture and zero touch commissioning. Capable of bonding up to 32 copper pairs for high bandwidth applications, Overture EoC solution platforms enable transport from 10Mbps to more than 100 Mbps in typical network deployments.  Additionally, with advanced traffic management, line rate local switching, industry-leading resiliency options and integration into Overture’s recently announced Ensemble Open Service Architecture™ service providers like Fluency have the tools needed to differentiate their offerings.

“We are pleased to see our customers achieving success and growing their business by staying at the forefront of technology,” said Mike Aquino, president and CEO, Overture. “Fluency is raising the bar for delivering Ethernet services in Scotland. We congratulate them on their success and look forward to an ongoing collaborative relationship.”
