Vodafone India to Deploy Cisco’s Next-Generation IP Networking Solutions

New IP-based networking technology to support delivery of innovative mobile broadband data and video services Cisco’s Globalization Center East played a role in the development of certain products

DELHI, July 08, 2013:  Cisco today announced that Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, will be deploying its end-to-end networking solutions to evolve to a complete Internet Protocol (IP)-based architecture in India.

Cisco® solutions will provide Vodafone with a multiservice convergence platform to serve Vodafone’s residential, business and mobile customers with a single network infrastructure, thereby lowering its capital and operating costs. Vodafone will also be able to deliver newer data services at faster mobile broadband speeds to its customers, enhancing their experience.

Traditional networks cannot to scale up to address the flexibility required by new consumer entertainment and communications services, making it imperative for service providers to upgrade to a IP network infrastructure. As noted in the Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) Forecast (2012-2017), there will be 2 billion networked devices in India by 2017, up from 1 billion in 2012, and mobile data traffic is expected to grow 60-fold from 2012 to 2017.

Cisco is analyzing and designing a state-of-the art architecture that is scalable, flexible and highly secure. In line with this, Cisco is providing Vodafone with its next-generation product and solutions designed and tested specifically for evolving markets that are going through a hyper data growth phase. Cisco’s Globalization Center East, in Bangalore, India played a role in the development of some of these products.
