Jul 23, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) — Geo Networks Ltd (Geo), the leading provider of dedicated fibre networks, today announced that it has signed a seven year contract to provide dark fibre to Tsohost, a fast-growing cloud hosting and managed hosting company in the UK. Geo is configuring a bespoke dark fibre network ring providing diverse connectivity between Tsohost’s operations in Slough and London’s Docklands. Routing a significant part of the 150km network through Geo’s secure network infrastructure deep in London’s sewer system ensures the utmost reliability, minimum disruption and allows Geo to deliver the project within a short timescale, with Tsohost’s new data centre due to come on line in October 2013.
Reliable connectivity and 100% availability is critical to the success of Tsohost’s business which is expanding rapidly with a growth rate of 70% year on year. The dedicated dark fibre ring will allow Tsohost to share almost unlimited data over a low latency, reliable Nx10 Gigabit fibre connection – crucial in providing cloud-web hosting, dedicated hosting and domain registration services.
“Our customers – whether independent bloggers, bricks and mortar businesses, or large enterprises – choose us for our reliability, proven uptime and excellent service. It’s fundamental that our technology partners show the same dedication to excellence. Geo really stood out as the best connectivity partner on this basis, both in terms of their technology infrastructure and also the knowledge of their team,” said Adam Smith, Managing Director, Tsohost.
“Geo’s ability to route the network through the sewer system brings a number of advantages, including speed of delivery, minimum disruption and maximum security since it removes concerns about potential damage from road works or copper theft,” continued Smith. “Geo’s business model was also very attractive to us as a fast-growing business. This investment in secure dedicated fibre gives us the ability to expand without incurring additional bandwidth costs and in turn allows us to keep our pricing stable for customers.” Tsohost already uses a number of data centres across the UK including Equinix LD5 in Slough and Telehouse East in London’s Docklands. The opening of its own data centre in October 2013 will add further capacity and allow the company to bring its staff onsite, even closer to the infrastructure. By opting for a dark ring topology from Geo Tsohost can easily add equipment and scale its connection as required to meet changing customer requirements.
“We are thrilled to support Tsohost as they expand their business,” said Chris Smedley, Chief Executive at Geo. “Our non-traditional service model means users can take control of their network, scaling up to accommodate future business growth without significant additional bandwidth costs. In addition, we are well placed to serve providers like Tsohost where resilience is essential with our network based in the sewers and alongside the gas lines, offering unparalleled security and reliability.” For further information please contact: Caroline Beer +44 (0)20 3100 3796 geoPRteam@metia.com.
