Sprint Emergency Response Team provides wireless devices and free service to responding public safety personnel

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), June 14, 2013 – As Colorado residents and businesses deal with the dangers and impacts from the Black Forest wildfire, Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) is proactively waiving overage charges for voice, text and data, and roaming fees for Sprint services for impacted customers between now and July 10, 2013. Impacted customers utilizing Virgin Mobile including payLo by Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile, Sprint’s prepaid brands, will be provided with a usage credit.

“Sprint’s prayers are with the residents of Colorado who have been impacted by the Black Forest wildfire,” said Bill White, senior vice president-Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility. “As Sprint’s wireless networks continue to perform well during this ongoing devastation, we hope the additional support we’re giving to our customers and first responders will aid them in their recovery efforts.”

To support first responders and public safety personnel, the Sprint Emergency Response Team (ERT) is providing 25 mobile devices and wireless service free of charge for 14 days to participating state and local agencies. Since its creation, Sprint ERT has conducted more than 5,600 deployments and provided emergency wireless support for more than 1,300 events, including the recent tornadoes in Moore, Okla.
