uShip Grows Within Data Foundry’s Austin Data Center

Austin, Texas – May 21, 2013 – Data Foundry announced today that uShip, the world’s largest and most trusted online transportation marketplace, has significantly expanded its production capacity within Data Foundry’s Austin Data Center.

uShip, which is featured on A&E’s real-life series Shipping Wars, serves as a global marketplace connecting transportation service providers with individuals looking to ship freight, household goods, and vehicles. After performing an internal cost-benefit analysis, uShip decided to move their production environment into a third-party colocation facility. A number of top-tier data center providers were evaluated. Ultimately, Data Foundry was selected based on a number of factors, including flexible design options, multiple layers of security with around-the-clock staffing, and their strong reputation in the industry. By colocating their production environment with Data Foundry, uShip was able to increase their capacity in a much shorter time frame than before.

“My experience with Data Foundry has been positive from day one. Our website is our business, so it is absolutely critical that our servers are always on and always connected. Data Foundry gives us that peace of mind,” said Nick Parker, VP of Engineering at uShip. “Unlike other data centers we considered, Data Foundry provides us the reliability and scalability that our type of business demands.”

Based on recent growth and the increased web traffic resulting from weekly national exposure on Shipping Wars, Data Foundry’s ability to quickly scale was a very important element in the decision.

“Three years ago uShip was named one of Inc. 500’s Fastest Growing Private Companies and has since continued to grow exponentially. Taking into consideration the rapid expansion that many ecommerce companies, like uShip, experience, we’ve configured our data centers to allow for maximum flexibility,” explains Edward Henigin, CTO of Data Foundry. “Our design easily accommodates companies of all sizes that want to customize and scale their footprints as needed.”
