AT&T Improves Republic Services’ Speed and Safety with Enhanced Push-to-Talk

Connecting More Than 10,000 Employees On-The-Go, Nationwide

Dallas, Texas, May 20, 2013

AT&T* Enhanced Push-to-Talk is connecting Republic Services’ network of more than 10,000 waste management professionals across the country with the tap of an app. When it came to communicating with drivers in the field, Republic Services needed a solution that provided both speed and reliability.

“We like AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk because it enables our dispatchers to connect quickly and safely with a large team of drivers – seamlessly,” said Bill Halnon, CIO of Republic Services. “Our drivers face a number of obstacles in the field. Communicating with their colleagues should never be one of them.”

Time is one resource that can never be recycled. That’s why Republic Services chose AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk when it came time to recycle their old push-to-talk solution, as they are recycling all of their old push-to-talk devices.

Enhanced PTT allows AT&T customers to communicate faster, use larger talk groups, and deploy across many types of handsets. From the start, it was designed specifically for AT&T’s speedy 4G LTE networks.

Key features of AT&T Enhanced PTT include:

  • Larger contact lists and talk groups than competitive PTT solutions
  • Ability to combine PTT services and mobile applications, with help from AT&T’s team of mobility consulting and integration experts
  • Supervisory override and talk group scanning, features that were previously available only for two-way radio users
  • Sub-second call setup
