Appointment part of a global strategy to focus on developing relationships with Europe-based enterprise customers doing business in Asia Pacific
Hong Kong, 25 March 2013 – Pacnet, a leading provider of integrated and full-service network and data solutions in the Asia Pacific region, today announced the appointment of John Armenakas as Director for Enterprise Markets – Europe as part of the company’s global effort to deepen relationships with channel partners and enterprises worldwide. Armenakas will be responsible for managing relationships with enterprise customers throughout Europe.
In particular, Armenakas will implement Pacnet’s channel strategy in Europe, which entails accelerating channel recruitment and sales and ensuring partners are able to fully leverage Pacnet’s full suite of managed data and network solutions as they expand their business in Asia Pacific.
Armenakas will be based in London as part of Pacnet’s Enterprise Markets organization to focus on the specific product, service and support needs of e-commerce firms, Internet portals and large multinational companies. The Enterprise Markets division has resources in markets around the world, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Taipei, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Seoul, Melbourne, China, India and the United States.
“This is a very exciting time to add someone with John’s expertise to Pacnet as the company focuses on its enterprise customers and the higher-value managed services they need to compete in Asia Pacific,” said Cardi Prinzi, President of Enterprise Markets. “The Asia Pacific region has seen explosive growth in data traffic mainly driven by the unstoppable rise of mobile usage and Internet populations. Expansion into Asia, particularly into China and India, is becoming a bigger priority for European companies.”
Pacnet’s service portfolio includes extensive MPLS coverage throughout Asia Pacific with interconnected data centers in most major markets. Over the past several months, Pacnet has announced data center development plans in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Sydney, Australia; an investment into its sub-sea fiber networks to build a 100 Gbps network; an expansion of its IP VPN license in China; and recently announced an extension of its ‘Lightning’ service for high-frequency traders that connects major stock exchanges in the region, namely Singapore Exchange (SGX), Hong Kong Exchange (HKEx) and Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE) (ATTokyo DC).
“There is an immense opportunity for Pacnet to develop its ties to European enterprises as they embrace solutions that can accelerate the growth efficiency of their Asia Pacific business,” said Armenakas. “European enterprises and cloud-based service providers will enhance their ability to meet growth objectives by leveraging Pacnet’s unrivalled infrastructure in the region.”
Mr. Armenakas brings more than 20 years of channel and direct sales management experience to his new position and has worked in Europe and international markets. He joins Pacnet most recently from Reliance Globalcom where he was New Business Development Manager in London. Previously, he spent five years with Singtel Optus in Sydney, Australia as Senior Channel Manager for Strategic Partners, and was with Telstra for eight years with positions in the United States, Hong Kong, and Australia, all focused on delivering Asia Pacific solutions to enterprise customers.
“Europe is of strategic importance to Pacnet and we have significant plans for 2013 to further expand our network presence and sales in Europe and an exciting line up of new services in the pipeline,” said Gina Haspilaire, Vice President Enterprise Markets for North America and Europe. “As we build the next evolution of our distribution partnerships and engagement across Europe, John’s deep knowledge and wide expertise, coupled with his leadership skills, will be invaluable to Pacnet.”
