Austin-Based OnRamp Opens Data Center in Raleigh, NC

AUSTIN, TX – OnRamp, a data center operations company headquartered in Austin, TX, announced today that it is opening a data center facility in Raleigh, NC. The expansion will enable the company to meet the growing demand for its services, which include high density colocationcloud computing, high security hosting and disaster recovery services.

“OnRamp is growing our capacity to meet the demand for our data center services, and we are excited to expand our footprint on the East Coast in the Raleigh market,” said OnRamp CEO Lucas Braun. “With two locations, each on a separate power grid, we can ensure both geographic and power grid diversity for all OnRamp customers between the Texas and North Carolina locations.”

Located in the heart of Research Triangle Park, OnRamp’s Raleigh data center is a 12,000 square foot, SSAE 16 SOC I Type II, HIPAA and PCI facility featuring the highest levels of security, redundancy, reliability and infrastructure. The facility operates at high levels of redundancy with OnRamp’s Redundant Isolated Path Power Architecture in place to deliver true 2N power to customers, from the utility to the rack.

“OnRamp’s services are rooted in our state-of-the-art facilities and the processes we employ to operate them,” said OnRamp Founder Chad Kissinger. “But, our approach to delivering these services is where OnRamp is truly different. All of our services are backed by our Full7Layer Support, which goes well above and far beyond the traditional power, ping and environment facilities. So, when it comes to working with our customers, we help them to accomplish their data center mission both inside and outside of their rack at every layer of data center operations.”

OnRamp’s Raleigh Data Center will be staffed 24/7/365 by a team of experienced, on-site engineers who have the expertise to provide Full7Layer Support. Most data center companies talk about support, but provide very little in the way of real, hands-on help. While OnRamp engineers regularly perform routine tape swaps and server reboots, they have the expertise and capability to support customers all the way through the application layer, going above and beyond routine requests. As a result, many customers view OnRamp as an extension of their IT department and choose to supplement their technical expertise, enhance their service, or seek on-demand support in emergencies with the help of OnRamp’s Full7Layer Support.

“Raleigh, like Austin, is a city filled with companies and entrepreneurs on the cutting edge of technology innovation,” said OnRamp President Ryan Robinson. “The city is ripe with seasoned professionals in the technology industry and we have assembled a world-class team of technical support personnel to manage our Network Operations Center to begin operations this week.”

OnRamp’s addition of a second data center facility comes on the heels of the company’s expansion of its Austin data center in Q2 2012. The newly provisioned square footage at OnRamp’s Austin data center incorporated three megawatts of power and two additional power paths, further augmenting OnRamp’s capability of supporting very high levels of power density.
