VTLWaveNet is pleased to announce its participation in the Equinix Ethernet Exchange program.
The Equinix Ethernet Exchange connects buyers and sellers via a portal to discover, transact with and interconnect with each other.
The agreement between VTLWaveNet and Equinix, the global interconnection and data center company, will enable customers of Equinix’s International Business Exchange LD4/5 in Slough to connect to Ethernet POPs in major cities on VTLWaveNet’s Western European footprint such as London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris. Within the London metro, VTLWaveNet is offering a promotion for Equinix customers to connect to any one of five London Docklands sites at very attractive rates.
The Ethernet Exchange Program is particularly well suited to any ISPs, voice carriers or companies opening a new point of presence in Slough who are looking to connect to their own POPs or network partners located at other data centers. By removing the geographic boundaries often associated with Ethernet-based services, customers can benefit from reduced time-to-market, lower operational costs, and accelerated revenue growth.
Kerstin Dinklage, SVP Sales & Business Development at VTLWaveNet comments: “Customers who take advantage of the services on offer through the Equinix Ethernet Exchange can fast-track their private network interconnectivity with a high speed connection on a standard Ethernet interface. We look forward to growing this exchange platform with Equinix.”
Dick Theunissen, CMO, Equinix EMEA adds: “The presence of VTLWaveNet’s European backbone and Core Nodes in our data centers brings real benefits to our customers, including new revenue opportunities. Now, combined with the service distribution capabilities of our Ethernet Exchange, it will enable greater flexibility and minimise time to market for high-bandwidth services.”
About VTLWaveNet
VTLWaveNet, part of the Viatel group, focuses on the European high-bandwidth market. VTLWaveNet combines an advanced fibre optic backbone network with metro reach into the major business centres accessing carrier houses, data centres and the main Internet Exchanges. This enables the company to offer its customers wavelengths, Ethernet, dark fibre, co-location and leased line services. Because VTLWaveNet owns the underlying infrastructure and has equipped the network with the latest high capacity optical DWDM technology and multi service platforms, it can offer these services quickly, very cost effectively, at all speeds and with all the routing and (low) latency information required.
