PHOENIX, Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — IO, the leading provider of next-generation modular data center technology and services, today announced the company has been awarded a contract by Myron F. Steves and Company, a Houston-based insurance wholesaler.
IO will provide Myron Steves with Data Center as a Service (DCaaS™) delivered out of the IO Phoenix data center. IO will act as a secondary data center that supports a VMware-based virtualized IT architecture in the Myron F. Steves and Company disaster recovery program. IO enables Myron F. Steves and Company to add capacity with a resilient, fully redundant enterprise solution – without having to invest resources in building and maintaining its own data center.
“We made a major shift in our disaster recovery strategy, moving from an outsourced service to a VMware solution where our production systems failover to a backup location,” said Tim Moudry, Associate Director of IT, Myron F. Steves and Company. “We are confident with IO that our secondary site will always be on – so if we need to use our disaster recovery systems, we will have the data center infrastructure ready to support our business.”
IO’s DCaaS allows customers to only purchase the data center capacity they require with the ability to add capacity quickly through a flexible, pay-as-you-grow model. This approach frees up capital that customers can invest in other areas of their organizations.
IO Phoenix is the largest commercially available data center in the United States to achieve Uptime Institute Tier III Design Certification, which has emerged as the premium level of service for commercial data centers. At IO Phoenix, organizations can use DCaaS to support cloud computing, high-availability applications, disaster recovery, data center consolidation and other strategic technology initiatives.
