Downloadable Format Gives Users Easy Access to Data Breach Info, Cybersecurity Tips
June 18, 2012
BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – The complete “Verizon 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report” is now available as an iBook. Users can download this year’s DBIR on an iPad with iBooks 2 or on a computer with iTunes here for free.
Available in English, this new format enables readers to more easily digest Verizon’s annual DBIR by organizing the material into accessible chapters with just a tap on the screen. Readers will also find the digital layout more attractive, with charts and graphs placed closer to the reference text. In addition, interactive capabilities within the report enable readers to double-click on charts and graphs so they can zoom in on the data and more easily search for specific items.
“Earlier this month, we announced that the full ‘2012 Data Breach Investigations Report’ is available for the first time in six additional languages, and now we are delivering an iBook version to meet the overwhelming interest in the report from the business and security communities,” said Wade Baker, Verizon’s director of risk intelligence. “Today users have multiple ways of getting to our data and using it to make better informed security decisions as well as to bolster their security defenses.”
The DBIR is in its fifth year of publication, and this year’s edition analyzes 855 data breaches involving more than 174 million compromised records – the second-highest data loss that the Verizon RISK (Research Investigations Solutions Knowledge) team has seen since it began collecting data in 2004. Verizon was joined by five organizations that contributed data to this year’s report: the United States Secret Service, the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit, the Australian Federal Police, the Irish Reporting & Information Security Service and the Police Central e-Crime Unit of the London Metropolitan Police.

The company does this through a robust suite of security services -- including governance, risk and compliance solutions; identity and access management solutions; investigative response; data protection and threat management services; and vulnerability management services -- delivered in the cloud or on premises.
