French media service provider to rely on Level 3’s scalable network to more efficiently deliver video and content to media and broadcast customers
LONDON, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it has been selected by Hexaglobe, a Paris-based media services provider, to enhance the delivery of reliable, high-quality video services to Hexaglobe’s media and broadcast customers. Level 3 will also help Hexaglobe optimize bandwidth to quickly scale to support traffic spikes, minimizing unused bandwidth and operate more efficiently.
Under the terms of the contract, Level 3 will provide high-speed IP services to Hexaglobe, supporting its media services such as on-demand video solutions and content management services to broadcasters and new media customers. Using Level 3’s global IP network, Hexaglobe will have access to increased connectivity throughout Europe and in the U.S. This access will allow Hexaglobe to offer a higher level of service to their media and broadcast customers, who are increasingly experiencing unpredictable spikes in video traffic.
“The nature of our services requires a network that can rapidly adjust to accommodate irregular video traffic patterns, which is why we teamed up with the reliable provider of choice,” said Franck Coppola, President of Hexaglobe. “With Level 3’s fast and nimble support, our customers can be confident that — even during peak traffic times — we will have the scalable network capacity available that is coupled with the network reach to bring their content to a global audience.”
“Our high-speed IP offering rides on our global and continuously upgradeable IP network, which is ideal for Hexaglobe as demand for new media services and delivery continue to grow,” said James Heard, regional president of the EMEA region for Level 3. “As abruptly or quickly as their network needs change, Hexaglobe can rely on Level 3 to help them deliver a great experience to their customers.”
