Telco Systems Unveils New Carrier Cloud Gateway and Aggregation Platform

Apr 17, 2012

T-Metro 8000 provides industry’s first open architecture platform with best in class carrier Ethernet/MPLS density, scalability and price performance for cloud, mobile backhaul, and business services

MANSFIELD, MA and Munich, Germany– April 17th ,2012 – Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC) and developer of multi-service Carrier Ethernet solutions, has unveiled today it’s new T-Metro 8000 carrier cloud gateway aggregation platform – the industry’s first open architecture, high density Carrier Ethernet cloud services Ethernet/MPLS switching platform.

T-Metro 8000 offers answers to many of the challenges introduced by cloud based services including security, resiliency, low latency, load balancing, and SLA monitoring. Based on AdvancedTCA open architecture standards, the T-Metro 8000 Carrier Cloud Gateway comes with the award winning BiNOX operating system software supporting Hierarchal QoS (HQoS), hardware based wire speed OAM, load balancing, VPLS/HVPLS and L2VPN optimized capabilities.

The open carrier-grade industry standard architecture AdvancedTCA, enables seamless integration of additional blades from other vendors allowing for creation of new services and solutions. T-Metro 8000 introduces the first open Carrier Ethernet solution that future-proof the provider network by supporting value-added services including in-cloud load balancing to ensure an exceptional level of experience for the end-user while optimizing carrier resources.

“As carriers move to cloud based services, Telecom equipment vendors must increasingly focus on solving the networking aspects of carrier cloud connectivity – lower cost per bit, dynamic bandwidth and end user SLA requirements for secure access to Cloud services”, says Erin Dunne from Vertical Systems. “The new T-Metro 8000 not only incorporates a robust feature set for MPLS/Ethernet and VPNs, (which are the fastest growing wireline data products for Service Providers worldwide), but also addresses the emerging demand for secure global access to Cloud services.”

Telco Systems’ T-Metro 8000 is the next generation MPLS and Ethernet Chassis based highest density service aggregation platform. With up to 1T of capacity in compact 6RU chassis and up to 240G per line card, this product line offers industry-leading throughput, densities, monitoring and resiliency. Enabling a wide variety of services and an easy migration to a converged service environment, the T-Metro 8000 is the platform of choice to enable wide-scale Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) adoption, implementation, and transformation.

“Our Carriers customers shared with us that their biggest concern is providing assured, secured end-to-end service with low latency and high scalability”, said Nir Daube, VP Product Management for Telco Systems. “T-Metro 8000 combines with EdgeGenie, our service management solution, as well as with our demarcation and aggregation switches allowing our customers to build a cost-optimized scalable MPLS and Ethernet network. It utilizes unique service management which enables customers to focus on the services offered to their end-users, making them the cloud and business services provider of choice for any enterprise.”

T-Metro 8000 is currently being tested by several major carriers and will be generally available in Q3 this year.
