Motorola becomes global distributor and integrator of EdgeCast content delivery network (CDN) platform enabling advanced multi-screen service delivery to consumers
HORSHAM, PA AND SANTA MONICA, CA – March 20, 2012 – Motorola Mobility, Inc. (NYSE: MMI) and EdgeCast Networks today announced an agreement where Motorola will distribute EdgeCast’s comprehensive portfolio of content delivery network (CDN) solutions to service providers worldwide. This new relationship combines Motorola’s leading portfolio of on-demand, network DVR and IP CPE solutions – driving the evolution of multiscreen TV and the smart, simple connected home – with a leader in content acceleration and the development and deployment of intelligent global content delivery networks.
With this agreement, Motorola becomes a global distributor and integrator of EdgeCast’s proven and widely deployed CDN platform that includes advanced network provisioning, monitoring and management solutions. With the proliferation of video ready smart devices such as smartphones and tablets, service providers now have access to a complete end-to-end IP video delivery solution. Leveraging Motorola’s expertise in video on demand (VOD), nDVR and in-home multi-screen IP video delivery capabilities, combined with EdgeCast’s global IP CDN solution, service providers can quickly benefit by accessing a complete and adaptive IP multi-screen solution that immediately expands the service provider’s revenue opportunities via an integrated VOD, nDVR, IP CDN and both home and public-based IP multi-screen services.
