Interxion welcomes the European Commission’s Cloud Partnership initiative

AMSTERDAM – February 1, 2012 – INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services, welcomes and supports the invitation from Neelie Kroes at the World Economic Forum in Davos to create a European Cloud Partnership.

As part of the European Commission’s Digital Agenda, Mrs. Kroes has invited the cloud computing services industry to come together in this partnership and work on three important phases in the migration to cloud computing services.  The first phase is to establish common requirements, the second, to build and deliver Proof of Concepts, and the third, to build reference implementations.
Interxion fully supports the development of a competitive cloud computing market.  With its Cloud Hubs in 11 countries and 13 cities, Interxion facilitates the exchange of information between cloud environments.  Interxion’s carrier-neutral data centre capabilities and recently launched Cloud Testlabs are an important foundation for the enablement of cloud computing services in Europe. The Testlabs are established with leading cloud software and hardware vendors, such as Microsoft and HP, and act as a free online proof of concept environment for service providers and system integrators.

“There is a need for the European industry to start working together proactively and to make it easier for enterprises to benefit from cloud services.  The cloud provides an important opportunity to increase the efficiency of IT resources and lower their cost. Due to the fragmentation of the European market, the transition to cloud-based service and consumption models may be slower in Europe compared to other world economies. We see this initiative from the European Commission as a positive stimulation to the industry to speed up the IT transition process” says Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer, Interxion.

Interxion is a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, serving over 1,200 customers through 28 data centres in 11 European countries. Through its digital, financial, cloud and carrier communities its customers are able to benefit from shared infrastructure, developing mutually beneficial relationships and providing access to a marketplace of suppliers to more efficiently develop launch and manage new services and applications.
