Telecom Industry Leaders to facilitate access network standards and specifications development
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 8, 2012– ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, will host the first 2012 Quarterly Meeting for the Full Service Access Network (FSAN) organization, a group of over 80 leading global telecommunications service providers, equipment manufacturers and testing labs, with the mission to drive applicable standards and new technical specifications for Passive Optical Networks (PON) services and products. ADTRAN will host the FSAN meeting on February 6-10, 2012 at ADTRAN’s Corporate Headquarters in Huntsville, Ala.
In continued effort to facilitate the development of global PON standards, FSAN has explored post-GPON optical access with a goal of developing carrier class solutions that offer seamless migration between system generations and enable the reuse of legacy fibre plant. Currently, the group is working to define the next generation of PON technology, NGPON2, that will enable increased bandwidth and advanced data rates of 40 – 100 Gbps. FSAN is studying new architectures that take advantage of maturing WDM technologies for more affordable plant evolutions.
