Sprint tops rivals’ rankings in Nemertes 2011 Pilothouse Award for Managed Router Services

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), August 09, 2011 – Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) has received top honors in the Nemertes 2011 Pilothouse awards as a Top Provider among Market Challengers for Managed Router Services. The award recognizes services designed to manage any portion of an enterprise-owned switch/router infrastructure. Sprint beat all rivals in the overall score, ranked highest in technology and customer service, and earned a close second in value. The report noted that Sprint’s strong performance “… reflects IT professionals’ view that it is delivering extremely well on technology and service at a fair price.”

The technology rating gauges how customers view the currency of routers deployed, configuration management and connectivity performance, integration with the rest of the network, and quality of monitoring data provided via a customer portal. The report also noted, “…Sprint has not just its own highest score in technology, not only the highest technology score among all the service providers here, but the highest score in any ratings area for any provider rated … Sprint is clearly meeting and even exceeding the expectations of IT professionals in customer organizations.”

Regarding customer service, the report stated, ”Sprint is clearly delivering strongly on customer service. Between solid on?site engineering assistance, when needed; a single point?of-contact online and one via the phone; and a solid portal for customer interaction, it is generally meeting or exceeding perceived needs.”

“Nemertes sees managed services in general, and managed-router services in particular, as a critical component of next-generation network services. Business users of managed-router services rated Sprint a 4.6 out of 5 for technology, and 4.5 out of 5 for customer service, praising the company’s network technology and overall customer service,” said Robin Gareiss, Executive Vice President and Sr. Founding Partner at Nemertes Research.

The Nemertes Research Pilothouse Awards provides insight on the performance of service providers, with results based 100 percent on direct feedback from approximately 2,000 IT decision-makers. IT practitioners were primarily from North America, with about half running global companies.

”We are thrilled with this recognition, validating that Sprint’s Managed Network Solutions over-deliver on the needs of our customers who benefit by having Sprint manage their entire network, providing increased enterprise flexibility and productivity, and minimizing overall costs,” said Monnie McGaffigan, vice president of Wireline, International and Strategic Alliances, Sprint. “Our convergence expertise keeps our customers’ networks running at peak efficiency.”
