Sprint Announces Dates and Opens Registration for the Open Solutions Conference

Annual Sprint conference focusing on developers, M2M and enterprise to be held Nov. 2-4 in Santa Clara, Calif.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), July 07, 2011 – Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) announced today a new name – Sprint Open Solutions Conference – for its annual developer conference and that it will be held Nov. 2-4, 2011, in Santa Clara, Calif. Registration is now open for the conference at http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2011.

The Sprint Open Solutions Conference reflects Sprint’s open strategy to give developers, enterprises and entrepreneurs the opportunity to create innovative applications and solutions on the Sprint network. Sprint exposes platforms that allow developers and businesses to create wireless solutions and applications that take advantage of capabilities at the network, IT, service and device level. Sprint is stepping away from the idea that “we (carrier) know best” and is focusing on leveraging its assets to drive innovation to the market.

“The wireless industry is experiencing exponential growth and is enabling new and innovative solutions every day in virtually all industries, including connected transportation, healthcare, consumer electronics and entertainment,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president-Product, Sprint. “The Sprint Open Solutions Conference is designed to showcase the robust tools and resources Sprint has available to developers and to bring its applications and solutions to market in the M2M, enterprise or consumer space.”

Throughout the three-day conference, developers will learn about Sprint’s open enablement strategy, creating applications for 4G and 3D, enterprise machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, go-to-market strategies, approaches to make developers more profitable, and current Sprint tools and capabilities across devices, networks and platforms. Key elements of the Open Solutions Conference include hands-on coding sessions, breakout sessions, event sponsor exhibits, town hall meetings, keynote presentations from industry leaders and networking opportunities for developers. The conference will include 4G and M2M demonstration areas.

The registration cost is $175 for developers who register by Aug. 31. The cost increases to $350 beginning Sept. 1. Developers can register and find additional information about the Open Solutions Conference at http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2011.
