GOLFERS RAISE RECORD AMOUNT FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AT INTEGRA TELECOM’S CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC

PORTLAND and NEWBERG, Ore. – For the ninth year in a row, the employees of Integra Telecom organized their annual charity golf classic to benefit Providence Newberg Health Foundation’s Hope for Children Fund. The 2011 Hope for Children Charity Golf Classic, which took place at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore. on July 25, raised more than $156,000, topping last year’s record of more than $140,000. During the past nine years, the event, which is organized by Integra employees, has raised more than $850,000.

“We are so pleased to continue this tradition year after year,” said Kit Nidever, director of business management at Integra Telecom. “Integra is dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we do business and this golf tournament is just one of the ways that we are able to achieve that commitment.”

Providence Newberg Medical Center Charity Care Statistics
Last year, Providence Newberg Medical Center provided more than $5.8 million community benefits, including $5 million in free or reduced-cost care for the communities’ most needy patients. Each year, hundreds of children are served through gifts made to the Hope for Children Fund.

“Integra is an enthusiastic and committed partner,” said Diana Fisher, executive director of Providence Newberg Health Foundation. “Their generosity and involvement in the tournament allows us to continue our mission by caring for our most vulnerable patients.”

About Providence Newberg Health Foundation
Providence Newberg Health Foundation, a local, non-profit corporation, promotes and raises funds to strengthen the ability of Providence Newberg Medical Center to enhance quality health care and to provide optimal health for individuals in the communities we serve. Providence Newberg Health Foundation was founded in 1985 by a small group of physicians and community leaders who were interested in supporting, through charitable giving, what was then known as Newberg Community Hospital. Today, governed by a 16-member volunteer Board of Trustees, the Foundation has raised more than $6 million toward many program and service projects including charity care for the poor and vulnerable, staff education programs, and equipment such as a new spiral CT scanner, fetal heart monitors, computer aided detection for mammography and cardiac ultrasound. The Foundation also raised $5.2 million for construction of Providence Newberg Medical Center that opened in 2006.
