Unite Private Networks to Provide Fiber Optic WANs to Kansas School Districts

Unite Private Networks (UPN) has further expanded their presence within Kansas by entering into long term agreements to provide data services over fiber optic Wide Area Networks (WAN) with USD #431 and USD #114 located in Hoisington and Elwood, Kansas respectively.

UPN provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks to schools, government, carriers, data centers, hospitals and enterprise business customers. UPN currently has customers located in 19 states throughout the U.S.

“Kansas continues to demonstrate its technology leadership with the recent announcements of Google’s investment in Kansas City, KS and the Federal Government’s commitment to the new national bioscience laboratory,” said Rob Oyler, CMO & EVP of Sales with UPN. “Schools are no different with their forward-thinking goals and needs for large bandwidth applications. We’ve been doing what Google is planning for the past 12 years in the K-12 education space. Our networks put the districts in control of their own growth and destiny with unlimited growth potential. Bottom line, they cannot find these pipes with the incumbent providers.”

“I was very pleased with the quality of work and professionalism that UPN provided us,” said Bill Lowry, Superintendent of Hoisington Schools. “Bandwidth is a very important commodity to our school district, like power and water. Being in control of our growth allows us to use this WAN as a foundation for our future. UPN was very timely with their work and took care of all of the details which provided us a turn-key project. They are a great company to partner with for this service.”

“Our district has never been connected with fiber before because of our rural area. We always thought it was too expensive or that no provider could do it,” said Leslie Rullman, Technology Coordinator for the Riverside School District. “The network provided by UPN will connect our buildings in the newly consolidated district (Wathena and Elwood) and allow us have a single network with shared applications and servers.”
