SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 21, 2011 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced a multi-million dollar contract from Hess Corporation, a leading global energy company. Together with IBM, Juniper Networks will deliver, energy-efficient networking services to Hess enabling a simplified, automated and secure environment.
After outgrowing its current Houston office space, Hess erected a new office tower in Houston and, at the same time was looking to upgrade its worldwide network to prepare for future needs and space restrictions. Hess requested an energy-efficient solution that could help simplify and power its operations, while keeping pace with business requirements and continuing to function with operational excellence to deliver quality solutions and outstanding customer service. Juniper Networks and IBM teamed to offer Hess a customized, secure and energy-efficient solution. Hess will incorporate IBM’s implementation and staging services coupled with Juniper’s integrated switching and security solutions. The Hess offering from IBM and Juniper Networks includes:
- IBM Implementation Services: Skilled technical specialists and experienced project management resources help reduce the risk of business disruption and accelerate return on investment (ROI) with IBM implementation services. IBM’s ICS Professional Services included network consulting, architecture, design, and integration services. These services are designed to provide a smooth implementation for new server and networking equipment from beginning to end. IBM can also preassemble machines at a staging center, deliver it in an installation ready state and then complete the implementation in client facilities. IBM offers the necessary global reach and resources to help ensure that rolling out the solution to worldwide locations can be done quickly and efficiently without compromising local needs. The IBM team is responsible for the network design, procurement, configuration, installation and implementation.
- Juniper Networks® EX Series Ethernet Switches: The EX Series Ethernet Switches deliver high-performance, carrier-class solutions built to meet the needs of data center networks. Juniper’s simplified, automated and secure switches dramatically reduce network complexity for Hess while increasing performance and reliability at lower total cost of ownership.
- Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways: Based on Juniper’s dynamic services architecture and powered by Junos®, a common network platform and operating system that reinvents the experience and economics of the network, the SRX Series Services Gateways provide robust networking and network access security services for Hess’ infrastructure and applications.
- Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN Appliances: The market-leading SA Series SSL VPN Appliances provide Hess’ remote and mobile employees, customers and partners with secure anytime, anywhere network access to corporate resources and applications on their laptops, smartphones and tablets, regardless of platform.
