VTLWaveNet Expands Network in Switzerland and Italy

VTLWaveNet has today announced the further expansion of its DWDM network in Europe. Following the roll-out of the DWDM network last month to Geneva and Marseille, VTLWaveNet has now extended its wavelength services to Bern thus completing the network between Geneva and Zurich.  Additionally the network has also been extended from Zurich down to Milan to provide connectivity into Italy.

Commenting on the new investment Lucy Woods CEO, VTLWaveNet said “This further investment in Switzerland and the extension into Italy is a welcome addition to our network and product reach.  By enabling our POP in Bern we can now deliver traffic between Frankfurt and Geneva on a short route avoiding Zurich for customers looking for low latency.”

Woods added “By connecting up Milan, VTLWaveNet is now able to service companies based in Italy who require connectivity into the key cities in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and Switzerland.”

ABOUT VTLWaveNet

VTLWaveNet, part of the Viatel group, focuses on the European wholesale market. VTLWaveNet combines an advanced fibre optic backbone network with metro reach into the major business centres accessing carrier houses, data centres and the main Internet Exchanges.  This enables the company to offer its customers leased lines, wavelengths, Ethernet, IP-Transit, co-location and dark fibre services.  Because VTLWaveNet owns the underlying infrastructure and has equipped the network with the latest high capacity optical DWDM technology and multi service platforms, it can offer these services quickly, very cost effectively, at all speeds and with all the routing and (low) latency information required.
