SUMMIT, N.J. & DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Hibernia Atlantic, the only diverse transatlantic high bandwidth connectivity provider, announced today that its high capacity fibre optic cable system is now connected to Interxion’s newest data centre, DUB2, located in Dublin, Ireland. The new high capacity link offers the only direct, submarine cable to connect North America to Ireland. This high performance connectivity also provides access throughout Ireland, and to and from mainland Europe and North America, allowing for local and global commerce opportunities.
Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, operates 28 carrier-neutral data centres located across 11 European countries. Interxion clients now have access to the only diverse network route linking Europe, the United States and Canada.
“The Hibernia network is a natural draw for companies with a requirement for high capacity bandwidth, such as content delivery providers, social media engines and cloud service providers, who command as much as ten-plus Gigabit Ethernet connections to ensure their IT infrastructure is always available,” states Arjan de Haan, acting MD of Interxion. “Our secure facilities were specifically designed to support mission-critical applications and ICT Infrastructure. Hibernia’s diverse, fast connectivity is another true value-add for our clients, who are looking for both bandwidth capacity to cope with large volumes of data and high performance when transporting their business critical information within Ireland or abroad.”
As part of the ongoing efforts to invest more in Ireland, Hibernia Atlantic first built its network into Ireland as part of the Project Kelvin deployment, a government-funded submarine and terrestrial cable build that now directly connects Ireland to North America. To further enhance its lowest latency connections, Hibernia Atlantic also recently announced a historic, new transatlantic cable build, called Project Express. Once completed, this will be the lowest latency, transatlantic connection from New York to London with sub 60 ms speed.
The initiative is to provide local and global commerce opportunities between Ireland and the rest of the world, offering local and global businesses access to secure, ultra low latency capacity. The new Hibernia Atlantic link into the Interxion DUB2 facility specifically caters to North American corporations in Ireland and foreign investment organisations that require the fastest routes into and throughout Ireland. In addition, it delivers further network diversity and business opportunity to all who colocate with Interxion at DUB2 and to all who can access the Hibernia transatlantic network.
“Hibernia Atlantic’s new network deployments, such as this one into Interxion’s Dublin facility, further stimulate growth to the region and attract additional investments,” states Fergus Innes, VP of Sales, EMEA of Hibernia Atlantic. “We are proud of the relationship with Interxion and in adding value to its carrier neutral data centre offering, in Ireland and abroad.”
