Powerful tool enables cable operators to offer advanced voice & multimedia services with uniformity across computer, mobile and now television
Cologne, Germany, May 3, 2011 – GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today launched its A2™ Web Applications Manager Platform (WAM) at the ANGA Cable Show in Cologne, Germany, May 3 -5 (stand N10 in Hall 10.1). As part of the GENBAND Applications portfolio, the A2 WAM empowers customers to bring applications to market faster by combining web applications and SIP–based multimedia telecommunications. The GENBAND WAM is purpose-built for developer-friendly web technologies that improve telephony applications’ use of the Internet and the speed of communications application deployment.
The A2 WAM offers service providers the ability to improve subscriber growth and retention while increasing ARPU through differentiated services:
- Application Diversity – provides access to web-based applications environments and allows service providers to launch their applications in a branded and controlled manner.
- Speed of Development for Telecom+Web Apps – provides an environment in which hybrid applications (Telecom +Web) can rapidly be developed to leverage both web and telecom-based domains.
- Open Programmability – includes features and capabilities of GENBAND multimedia applications using open and web-developer familiar design tools and techniques (RESTful APIs).
The first application developed by GENBAND on the A2 WAM platform is the Visual Communication Suite (VCS), which blends communications with home entertainment. VCS delivers functionalities such as Caller ID, Message Waiting Indicator, incoming/outgoing call logs with call disposition, and user-definable configuration and personalization through the Communication Control Center. Using VCS, operators can offer new, highly-differentiated services that allow subscribers to balance privacy and accessibility with the ability to retrieve messages and respond to callers at the subscribers’ own convenience during television viewing, web browsing and other activities. All VCS services can be delivered to various endpoint devices, including connected TVs, PCs, tablets and mobile devices.
“GENBAND’s A2 Web Applications Manager allows service providers to deploy advanced communications services, which have been traditionally available only through computers and mobile phones, now to the television,” said Keith Landau, GENBAND’s Chief Product Officer. “We are committed to investing in our applications portfolio to make it easier for service providers to develop and deploy differentiated applications. The A2 Web Applications Manager is ideally suited to help us accomplish this objective and significantly enhances our customers’ communications experience.”
In addition to the A2 Web Applications Manager, visitors to GENBAND’s ANGA booth will have an opportunity to see some of the industry’s most innovative IP-based communications solutions that are designed to help cable operators increase revenue potential and improve subscriber loyalty through the delivery of advanced hosted voice, multimedia and mobility communications services.
On Wednesday, May 4th, from 10 am – 11:15 am, GENBAND’s Vice President of Product Marketing, Micaela Giuhat, will participate in a panel discussion on DOCSIS 3.0 Roll Out. The session, titled “Simply IMS: An Efficient Path to Converged Service Revenue”, will be held in Room B.
