Segovia Launches Three-Pronged Community Outreach Program: Community Service, Employee Matching Fund and Corporate Partnerships with Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Smile and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia

Herndon, VA, April 15, 2011 – Segovia, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Inmarsat plc and a leading provider of secure, global telecommunications to the public and private sectors, announced today that it has launched a three-pronged Community Outreach Program. The initiative, which is anchored in significant donations to Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Smile and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia, includes a dollar-for-dollar matching fund for employee charitable contributions and staff volunteer projects in the community.

“Segovia’s Community Outreach Program grew from the commitments of our employees to the community, and they continue to inspire us to give back,” said Mark Moore, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. “As a leader in government and military communication solutions, we are proud to support our nation’s veterans through donations to Wounded Warrior Project. And we are equally proud to support children around the world through Operation Smile and to enhance the living conditions of our neighbors through Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia. He added, “Our work with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia honors an additional commitment of ours, to work, as volunteers, in the community. In May, we look forward to rebuilding homes in the Northern Virginia area.”

In 2010, Segovia sent care packages and donated more than one million minutes to U.S. troops in Iraq, enabling them to make more than 100,000 Voice over IP (VoIP) telephone calls. The company has also participated in the “Hire Heroes U.S.A.” program, which helps severely injured service members connect with employer companies who want to help them build a career in the civilian workforce.

Segovia is able to help an even more diverse community by matching all charitable contributions from employees. The company supported disaster relief in Haiti by matching employees’ donations dollar-for-dollar and is now doing the same for earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan.

In February, Segovia staff cooked and served dinner to some 50 residents of the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter,  operated by “New Hope Housing”, in Alexandria, Virginia, not far from the company’s headquarters. Segovia has also held company-wide fundraisers for the Special Olympics, the Ronald McDonald House, the Avon Walk, and the Chiari Walk, as well as a Toys for Tots holiday drive.
