Award recognizes the leading Asia Pacific telecommunications service provider for region’s first Data Landing Stations
HONG KONG, 18 February 2011 – Pacnet was recognized by IT Square editors for the region’s first Data Landing Stations (DLSs) and was awarded the “The Best Business Internet Data Center” at the Sing Tao IT Square Editors’ Choice awards ceremony held yesterday. IT Square is a weekly enterprise technology supplement of Sing Tao Daily – one of the most widely read Chinese daily newspapers in Hong Kong.
“We are delighted to be recognized once again by the editors of IT Square, for delivering a new breed of data centers through our DLSs, that meet the growing market demand for robust co-location facilities linked by the highest-speed, lowest-latency connections available,” said Wilfred Kwan, Chief Technology Officer, Pacnet.
Pacnet’s DLSs are unique in that they are a network of connected data centers across multiple geographies with scalable, reliable and diverse network footprint that offer direct access to Pacnet’s EAC-C2C subsea cable, Asia’s largest privately-owned subsea network. The DLSs leverage the power, space and network connectivity of existing cable landing facilities to offer state-of-the-art data center facilities including a high power density of up to 8 KVA per cabinet, fully redundant power and cooling systems, advanced fire detection and suppression systems as well as 24 x 7 security access systems.
Pacnet launched its first DLS in Hong Kong in November 2010, and this was followed shortly by the launch of its second DLS in Singapore. Through the Pacnet DLSs in Singapore and Hong Kong, Pacnet is able to deliver the lowest latency connection between a data center in Singapore and a data center in Hong Kong. Additionally, customers are also able to get high capacity, low latency connectivity across Asia and the United States, with multiple resiliency options, through Pacnet’s EAC-C2C and EAC Pacific cable systems.
“We are proud to receive the award and recognition from IT Square editors for the second year in a row,” said Alice Ting, Managing Director of Pacnet Hong Kong. Pacnet was awarded the IT Square “Managed Services Solution Award” last year. “We will continue to deliver the innovation and business value that we have consistently brought to the marketplace through our industry-leading solutions,” added Ms Ting.
Pacnet’s DLSs are part of the company’s growth strategy to tap the growing demand for data center services, and also support Pacnet’s enhanced suite of cloud computing solutions.
