Integra to Help Empower Young People to Achieve Business Success through Volunteering and Investment in Education

Seattle, Feb. 18, 2011Integra Telecom Inc., a voice and Internet services provider for business, has entered a 10-year partnership with Junior Achievement of Washington to help grow and nurture the state’s next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs. The senior vice president of Integra Telecom of Washington, Matt Smith, will also join the organization’s Washington board of directors.

Integra’s employees in Washington will also volunteer to teach Junior Achievement curriculum in K-12 classrooms as part of the company’s Community Matters Program. In addition, the telecom provider is sponsoring all of the state’s JA BizTown facilities—a hands-on, fully interactive simulated city that exposes students to business in the real world— by providing all the telecom equipment and expertise needed to operate a telecom simulation.

“The chance to partner with Junior Achievement was an opportunity Integra Telecom could not pass up,” said Matt Smith, senior vice president for Integra Telecom of Washington. “The core values of each organization—from improving the quality of life of the community and its youth, to creating a better world through education and empowerment—make this partnership a natural fit.”

“Matt Smith and Integra Telecom have galvanized our organization with their passionate support and enthusiasm,” said David Moore, president of Junior Achievement of Washington. “We are excited to be working with Integra and its Community Matters program.”

Integra’s Community Matters program supports initiatives and organizations that benefit the lives of people in the communities that Integra serves. Its focus areas are:

  • Youth – health, education and the well being of the youth in the community.
  • Health – wellness, safety and the eradication of disease.
