Sonus Networks to Show Voice Intrusion Protection Technology at International Contact Center Expo

SONUS NETWORKS TO SHOW VOICE INTRUSION PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY
AT INTERNATIONAL CONTACT CENTER EXPO

Voice Intrusion Prevention Critical for Protecting Call Center Operations

WESTFORD, Mass., October 26, 2010 Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS, news, filings), a market leader in next-generation IP-based network solutions, today announced that at the International Contact Center Expo and Conference taking place this week, it is demonstrating innovative new intrusion prevention technology to protect critical call center operations from voice-based intrusions and malware.

“While data security vendors focus on securing the data network, they are largely blind to attacks that come into the enterprise through the voice network,” said Mykola Konrad, director of product management for Sonus. “However, vishing, spam over Internet telephony (SPIT), spoofing, and other voice-based IP attacks are extremely dangerous to the enterprise and can co-opt the voice network or use it as a point of access.”

Such attacks can have a negative impact on call center operations, for example, forcing enterprises to spend millions in additional capital and operational investments to accommodate the growing amount of “junk” voice traffic. The cost to enterprises is even greater when botnet-based DoS attacks block call center services altogether, resulting in lost sales, negative corporate image and lost consumer confidence

Sonus Networks will be showing the new voice intrusion prevention technology in booth 619 at the International Contact Center Expo and Conference, and will be available to discuss the implications of this technology for protecting contact centers from voice-oriented attacks.

At the conference, Mykola Konrad, director of product management for Sonus, will moderate a track on Technology Trends: Challenges and Tactics on Wednesday, October 27. During that track, he will speak on “Incorporating Flexibility and Scalability into Your Existing Contact Center Technological Infrastructure” at 12 p.m. This presentation will provide strategic insight around:

  • Preparing for change within your contact center and managing expectations
  • Setting parameters for scaling down to preserve customer service excellence
  • Evaluating capabilities of cloud technologies prior to implementation
