PEER 1 Hosting Selects Juniper Networks “3-2-1” Architecture to Power Its Cloud Hosting Service and Simplify Its Core Network Infrastructure

Junos-Powered Network Delivers Data Center Virtualization and Automation for Increased Capacity, Efficiency and Scalability

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 12, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced that PEER 1 Hosting (TSX: PIX), a leading online IT hosting provider, has selected Juniper’s “3-2-1” architecture for a comprehensive upgrade of its data centers and core network infrastructure that is designed to cost-effectively increase traffic capacity and scalability. The proven scale and reliability of the Junos® operating system and a simplified architecture will enable Vancouver-based PEER 1 Hosting to meet its guarantee of 100 percent network availability and ultra-low latency to its customers worldwide for all services, including their flagship Cloud Hosting Services .

“Upgrading our core network was a necessity to improving our business, but a major overhaul of network infrastructure can be challenging,” said Ted Smith, senior vice president of operations, PEER 1 Hosting. “Juniper’s solutions provided the unprecedented scalability, performance and reliability we needed for our network in order to meet our current and future requirements. As we continue to evolve our network and data centers to next-generation technologies, we see Juniper as a partner in this effort and more than just a vendor.”

Now operating seventeen data centers worldwide, PEER 1 Hosting has seen remarkable growth over the past ten years since its initial start in just two cities. To meet this growing demand, PEER 1 Hosting is deploying Juniper Networks® MX960 3D Universal Edge Routers, EX8200 Ethernet Switches and EX4200 Ethernet Switches with virtual chassis fabric technology, eliminating the need for network switch aggregation and reducing latency by up to 77 percent compared with legacy architectures. PEER 1 Hosting is also leveraging the Juniper Networks SSG Series Secure Services Gateways to enhance the security of its network as well as Junos script automation to streamline network configuration and operations.

“PEER 1 Hosting has made strategic investments in its network to develop a unique competitive advantage in the industry that is based on delivering a cost-effective service with uncompromising reliability,” said Mike Marcellin, vice president of product marketing, Juniper Networks. “Juniper’s solutions, powered by Junos running across switching and routing devices, are proven in data center and core deployments for maximizing network availability as well as easing service creation and delivery to enable the network to consistently perform at its maximum potential. PEER 1 Hosting’s investment in Juniper will provide them with a robust platform and scalability for future growth.”
