Windstream announces finalists for technology donations

Online voting to determine share of $70,000

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Eight finalists have been chosen for Windstream’s (NYSE:WIN, news, filings) Iowa Education Connections program which aims to enhance technology at schools and charitable organizations throughout Iowa.

The eight finalists are:

  • Charter Oak-Ute Elementary – Ute
  • Children & Families of Iowa – Des Moines
  • Friends of Fayette Community Library – Fayette
  • Nodaway Valley Elementary – Fontanelle
  • Progress Industries – Newton
  • Schleswig Community School – Schleswig
  • St. Francis Xavier – Dyersville
  • West Delaware Community School District – Manchester

Four winners will be determined based on a public online vote and will share $70,000 to be used for technology or technology upgrades. The school or organization with the most online votes will receive a $25,000 donation.  The remaining top three will win $15,000 each. Votes may be cast at http://EduConnect.Windstream.com through Oct. 15.

Windstream received more than 700 nominations for Iowa Education Connections. Fifty-two schools and 501(c)3 organizations applied for the program. The top eight were chosen based on current technology resources and overall need.
